How does the sampling work?

In this video we explain how to correctly perform the sampling with the Oceamo Lab Classic analysis set.

The sample should not be taken immediately after a water change, after feeding or after adding a water care product. Always take samples at the same time of day to get comparable results.

Take the 20 ml syringe included in the sampling kit and rinse it several times with aquarium water. Then fill the syringe with aquarium water and put the filter on the syringe. Now carefully push water through the filter into one of the two 15 ml sample tubes. The syringe filter must then be removed again from the syringe, the syringe filled with aquarium water again, the syringe filter put back onto the syringe and the second 15 ml sample tube filled with filtered water. Both sample tubes should be filled up to the rim with water. Close the sample tubes well. The 50 ml sample tube can be filled directly with aquarium water (without filtration).

In the Fresh Water Analysis (for osmosis- or tap water) syringe filtration is not needed.

For a better interpretation of your analysis results, please also fill in the enclosed water analysis form and send it back to us with the samples. Please make sure that your e-mail address is clearly legible, otherwise we will not be able to deliver your analysis result.

How does my sample get to the Oceamo lab?

You have two options to send us your sample:

a) Sending by post

please check current information here.

b) Submission to an Oceamo Partner

Some aquarist shops in Austria act as a sample collection point for Oceamo (Oceamo partner). Please hand in your bottled samples (including water analysis form) to your Oceamo partner. The sample will be collected from the Oceamo partner and then analyzed in the laboratory. Thus you do not have any shipping costs.

How long will it take for me to receive my result?

We perform analyses at least 2 days a week. Normally, you will receive your result after a maximum of 3-4 days after the sample has arrived. Around public holidays it can come to somewhat longer waiting periods. In exceptional cases (illness, failure, repair & maintenance of devices) there may be longer waiting times. - In such cases, we inform you immediately!

What does an Oceamo analytical result include?

At Oceamo, we value science. You will receive an analytical evaluation with all measured parameters. We only determine elements that are of importance in aquaristics. We only give an accuracy which we (our devices) can guarantee.

For values that differ from an optimal water composition, we give you indications where the contamination can come from, or how to fix a deficit. In order to be able to provide useful information here, the anamnesis sheet is extremely important. Here you tell us how your aquarium is built, which salt you use, and what you regularly add to the water. - Only then we have all the information to interpret your analysis in the best possible way. - Please enclose the completed analysis sheet to the sample.

We are available for questions about your analysis. Please contact us by phone or e-mail. We will get back to you as soon as possible.

What is Oceamo Custom Elements, and how does it help me maintain my aquarium?

Every aquarium is different. Depending on the population and microbiome of your aquarium, different elements are consumed at different rates. The analytical devices used by Oceamo allow accurate determination of macro and trace elements.

Based on your analysis, we prepare your Oceamo Custom Elements, which contains all components to raise in your aquarium the (trace) element values to an optimal value. For this we use the most accurate scales as well as the purest chemicals. Each Oceamo custom mix is custom made to fit your tank. Thus, you provide your corals with all the missing trace elements and promote color and growth.

Depending on the ingredients, the Custom Elements consist of 1-3 containers, which are added to the aquarium in a high flow-through spot, such as the sump, within a specified time (usually spread over several days).

Wo Where can Oceamo products be purchased?

You can order Oceamo products from well-stocked aquarist shops or order them from our online shop.

Who is Oceamo?

Oceamo was founded in 2017 by Dr. Dipl.-Ing. Christoph Denk. Christoph has been intensively involved in chemistry since 1999, has experience in the manufacturing pharmaceutical industry (including associated quality control systems) since 2008, accompanies scientific projects and regularly publishes in specialist journals such as "Angewandte Chemie International Edition". Christoph has been an avid aquarist since his childhood, the diversity of reef aquaristics captivated his attention. Oceamo combines the passion for research and chemistry with the passion for aquaristics.

Oceamo provides services and products for modern reef aquaristics and also uses existing infrastructure to learn more about the reef ecosystem. We run research tanks to learn more about coral metabolism and the importance of trace metals. Our research is conducted and documented according to scientific standards. Results should be published in journals.
